Learner goals and capabilities

The last half century has seen a rapid shift towards globalization. As a result, even our simplest actions and choices can easily and unwittingly impact someone halfway around the world. As good global citizens, we must consider our actions in a global context.

Bring on learners from Fanshawe College to evaluate, research and provide insight into an issue you currently face. Learners will base their research and evaluation on the four most prominent ethical theories - Consequentialism, Duty-based Ethics, Feminist Ethics/Ethics of Care and Virtue Ethics. We consider these theories within the context of a variety of topics including environmental issues, the UN 2030 sustainability goals, the death penalty, censorship, drug control, human rights, animal rights, and corporate social responsibility.

Project examples

Learners will be capable of evaluating your issue from a variety of different standpoints, and be able to provide their research, analysis and insights in the form of a written document or a formal presentation. Do you have a specific task that you are looking to have learners complete? We are open to discussion and collaboration.

For example, as you develop an ethical framework for your organization, students are able to evaluate your organization values and guiding principles in the context of different ethical philosophies.
